Carson Bianco continued his excellent week of golf on Thursday with a match-low 41 to lead Independence to a 185-204 win over host Cardinal at Rolling Green Golf Course in Huntsburg on Thursday.
“He has had a good week,” said Independence coach Mark Echstenkamper. “He shot a 41 today and a 42 and 43 this week. He’s been very consistent.”
Andrew Teribery came in with a 46, Ryan Zygmunt carded a 48 and Tyler Sagi closed out the scoring for the Blue Devils with a 50.
“Zygmunt was a little off this week,” Echstenkamper said. “He scores better than that normally. I think he’s frustrated. He wants to get that score better. Teribery was up and down this week. He was a little sporadic hitting the ball.”
Overall, Echstenkamper was pleased with the win but hopes to see continued progress.
“It’s a win but we’re trying to get better every time out,” he said. “It was not our best performance today, that’s for sure.”
Independence travels to Trinity on Tuesday.
Virginia Travers shot a 49 to lead the Huskies to a benchmark score this season. Kevin Hammitt and Anthony Sinito both finished with 51 and Jonathan Heredos closed out the scoring with a 53.
“It was the team's lowest score of the year,” said Cardinal coach Glenn Travers. “Freshman Anthony Sinito shot his best round ever with a 51.”
Cardinal travels to Cuyahoga Heights on Tuesday.
