Daniel Mathews named Independence Athlete of the Week

During a two-game stretch, Daniel Mathews led Independence with 31 points and he shot 60-percent from the floor and 80-percent from the free throw line. He also had eight rebounds, five steals and seven assists during that stretch. For his efforts, Mathews was named Independence Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 5, 2015.

Mathews, a senior captain and three-year letter winner, leads the Blue Devils in scoring, steals and assists all while facing the opponent’s best defender and multiple double teams. He is second on the team in rebounding.
