Cardinal’s cross country teams are young and lack numbers but the Huskies are showing improvement.
On Saturday, the teams traveled to Boardman High School in Youngstown to run in the 2016 Spartan Invitational.
The Huskies showed plenty of improvement.
“I'm really proud of the way the each of the kids ran,” said Cardinal coach Megan Cameron. “They're each working hard towards their personal goals. Their enthusiasm for the sport is exciting to see, especially because we have a lot of new runners.”
Junior Joey Bradesca led the way for the Cardinal runners as he finished in a time of 20:47. Freshmen Clayton Sauberan and Austin Barcikoski finished in 24:33 and 27:43, respectively.
Senior Alissa Nevison paced the girls with a time of 24:29. Freshmen Autumn Zak and Jenna Ayer came in at 25:17 and 26:34, respectively, and senior Shelby Miller finished in 34:02.
The Huskies return to action on Tuesday when they travel to the Grand Valley Invitational.
