Jacob Spino named Independence Athlete of the Week

Jacob Spino finished 4-0 to win the 145 pound weight class at the Hawken Invitational Tournament and subsequently earned Independence Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 8, 2014. Spino pinned all four of his opponents during the tournament.

Three of his pins were in the first period and he didn’t give up an offensive point during the tournament. Spino finished last year one win away from placing at the state tournament and is on a mission this year to become Independence’s fourth wrestling state champion. He is a ferocious competitor and is driven every day to reach his goal.
