Senior forward Jennifer Wisniewski opened the 2014 season with a bang, literally.
In Independence’s first game against Laurel her first shot of the year rattled off the post and in her next game she tied a school record—for the third time—with four goals against Oberlin.
“It was a beautiful shot from about 30 yards that was three inches too high," said Independence coach Bryan Less of Wisniewski’s first shot. “Jen could have had a fifth goal (against Oberlin), but made an unselfish play to give a teammate a better shot.”
Against Chardon, Wisniewski scored one goal and nearly had another.
For her efforts, Wisniewski was named Independence Athlete of the Week.
“Jen is the heart of our team. She plays everything at 100-percent,” Less said. “The future looks bright for Jen this season as she has a shot at breaking several school records.”
