Karisca Chambers named head volleyball coach at Cardinal

Cardinal High School is pleased to announce that Karisca Chambers has been selected to be the head volleyball coach for the Huskies. The Board of Education approved her hiring at their February 11 meeting. She replaces Lisa Shirkey, who announced in December that she would not return as coach next year.

Chambers is a 2008 graduate of Newbury High School, where she played both volleyball and basketball. She continued her volleyball playing career at Lakeland Community College and then at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, where she majored in English Education. She has coached volleyball and basketball at Kenston and at Newbury.

Chambers' passion and enthusiasm for the sport of volleyball was evident during the interview process and she is excited to be taking over the very successful volleyball program at Cardinal.

"I am extremely excited not only to be a part of this program but to be a Husky." she said. "I have always admired Cardinal and I cannot wait to bring energy and new ideas. There are big shoes to fill, but I am confident and ready for the challenge. I am exceptionally eager to get started and lead my team to a successful season. Go Huskies!"
