Kirtland’s volleyball team recovered from a slow start to defeat visiting Euclid, 3-0, on Saturday.
The Hornets won in straight sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.
“After a slow start, the team bounced back,” said Kirtland coach Bob Schenosky. “The points were well distributed and the entire team added to the victory today. It was certainly a solid start to the season.”
Senior Taylor Frazee led the Hornets with 11 kills, 14 service points, 4 aces and 8 digs.
“It was awesome,” Frazee said. “It felt so good to start out the season with a win and get a feel for how we will play as the season goes on. I'm excited to see how it goes.”
Julia Ricketti added 9 kills, 8 digs and 2 blocks. Olivia Mancisio recorded 7 kills and 6 blocks and Sam Bailey had 5 kills, 7 service points and 7 blocks.
“I'm really impressed with my team already just from the preseason and one game,” Frazee said. “We work together really well and everyone on my team is so talented and I think we have great potential for this season.”
Kirtland’s JV team also defeated Euclid, 2-1.
