Medina next up for Mentor

Mentor hosts Medina on Jan. 23 in a key NOC Valley game.

The Cardinals are 8-4 and coming off a road win at Strongsville. In the victory over the Mustangs, junior center Micah Potter had a career-high 37 points as Mentor dug out of an early 11-point hole.

The Bees come in at 5-5 and 0-3 in league play, but they have a few tough losses on their resume this winter. Medina pushed Shaker Heights and Lorain to the limit before falling in close games – both the Raiders and Titans are top 10 teams in the latest Cleveland.com poll.

The Bees are led by Michigan recruit Jon Teske, a 6-foot-11 center with a strong skill set. Evan Schreck is coming off a 22-point effort in a loss to Lorain and is a potent scoring threat for Medina. Zack Bennett is a solid role player for Medina.

Mentor suffered a loss on Tuesday in practice when junior point guard Andrew Valeri went down with a left thumb injury that will sideline him for 4-6 weeks. The Cardinals will use a variety of players in the point guard role, led by Kyle McIntosh
