Nolan Fields named Independence Athlete of the Week

Independence trailed conference rival Beachwood, 2-1, with time ticking away.

That’s when senior Nolan Fields came to the rescue.

Fields scored a goal in the final 30 seconds of the match to earn the Blue Devils a tie with Chagrin Valley Conference rival Beachwood, who was ranked No. 5 in the state at the time and is the defending CVC champ.

For his efforts, Fields was named Independence Athlete of the Week for Week 2.

“His leadership and work ethic as well as skill and tenacity make him a great part of this Blue Devil team and have earned him the role of captain this season,” said Independence coach Ryan MacRaild. “Along with solid defensive play, Nolan has scored a handful of goals helping lead the team to a 3-0-1 record so far this season.”
