Sanjay Sundararajan scored three goals and Sam Coso and Jared Ianiro each scored one to lead Kirtland to a 5-1 win over Brooklyn in a non-conference game on Monday.
Stjepan Mijic-Barisic assisted on all three of Sundararajan’s goals as the Hornets improved to 3-0 on the year.
“It was a great defensive effort by the entire team, disciplined, aggressive and purposeful,” said Kirtland coach John Valentic.
Danny Jahnke recorded one save in the net for the Hornets, who have allowed just two goals—one on a penalty kick—in three games.
Valentic credited Ianiro and Ethan Garcia for their efforts in the win.
“Jared played tremendous balls all over the field and deserved multiple assists,” he said. “Ethan Garcia also had a nice game. He's really coming into his own as the holding (midfielder).”
Kirtland hosts league rival Berkshire on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
