Junior Tyler Wilson was named Independence Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29. Wilson had an outstanding season for the Independence Blue Devil golf team.
He finished second overall in the Chagrin Valley Conference this season and first and third, respectively, in the pre- and post-season CVC tournaments. He also finished 13th out of 80 golfers at the sectional tournament and finished with a 39.6 stroke average and twice this season had a low score of 35.
“Tyler was solid all season and missed the CVC MVP by only one point,” said Independence coach Mark Echstenkamper. “He is a great ball striker and is really a big hitter. I can’t wait to see what he will do his senior year.”
