Urban defends home turf

WILLOUGHBY—A disappointing loss in the championship round of last week’s North Coast Classic was all the inspiration Nik Urban needed to defend his home turf in the 2015 Rebel Invitational Tournament at South on Saturday.

Urban flattened all five of his 285-pound opponents on his way to earning the event’s Most Outstanding Wrestler award.

“It was awesome,” Urban said. “I came out and wrestled my style every match. I stayed on my leg attack the whole day. After a finals match last week where I didn't wrestle the greatest it felt good to come out and wrestle my way.”

He finished off the tournament with a 1 minute, 32 second pin of Nordonia’s Alec Camelli in the first place match to improve to 15-1 on the year with 13 pins.

“I feel like I've wrestled well so far,” Urban said. “There is a lot I need to tighten up by the time the postseason comes around. I need to get better on my shots and more dominant while hand fighting, but overall I've wrestled a pretty solid schedule so far. I'm excited to see what happens this next week at the Brecksville tournament with some high caliber kids.”

South’s Spencer Dusi (113), Mike Farkas (120) and Isaac Hendershot (132) also won individual championships for the Rebels, who finished in second place behind Olmsted Falls. South’s Drew Dusi (6th at 120), Lance Hansen (2nd at 126), Louie Preseren (6th at 138), Kyle Jordan (6th at 145), Amir Mitchell (5th at 152), Milton Howard (3rd at 170), Evan Ketterman (6th at 182) and Nick O’Brien (5th at 285) also placed.
