VASJ girls basketball rallies to top Padua, extends winning streak to 9

Villa Anglea St. Joseph extended its current win streak to nine games by rallying in the fourth quarter to defeat host Padua, 45-39, on Feb. 11.

The Vikings erased an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit and sealed the victory with four free throws by senior captain Mariah McGhee. Toni Beuck led the Vikings with 11 points and she was one of eight VASJ players to score. McGhee chipped in 9 points for the Vikings.

VASJ improved to 17-3 on the season. The Vikings host St. Thomas Aquinas on Feb. 14. The Knights are the last team to beat VASJ – a 50-48 win over the Vikings on Jan. 10.

VASJ's three losses on the year are by a combined 10 points.
