VASJ runners miss qualifying for state finals

Villa Angela-St. Joseph freshman Kynadi Byers and senior Toni Beuck competed in the Division III state track meet on June 5 in Columbus, but were unable to qualify for the finals.

Byers ran a season-best 12.73 in the 100M dash, but just missed Saturday's final with a 10th place finish. The top 9 advanced to the finals.

Beuck ran in the 400M preliminary race on Friday and finished with a time of 1:01.49.

"Kynadi ran a season-best and was the first out, just missed," VASJ coach Dan LaRocco said.

"Toni ran her heart out but came up a little short."
