VASJ takes bye as top seed in D3 Garfield Heights District

Villa Angela-St. Joseph's pursuit of a sixth state championship in boys basketball will begin at Viking Village on March 6.

VASJ, the top seed in the Division III Garfield Heights District, took a bye and will play the winner of Gilmour and Cleveland MLK in a sectional final on Friday, March 6 at Viking Village.

The Vikings, winners of the last two Garfield Heights District titles, are 15-2.

Warrensville Heights, the 2014 district runner-up, is in the bottom of the bracket and opens at home against St. Martin DePorres.

If VASJ wins the sectionaal title game at home, the Vikings will play at Garfield Heights on March 9.

VASJ won the Division IV state championship in 2013 and were D-III state runner-up in 2014 losing to Lima Central Catholic last March.
