Name: Luke Wisniewski School: Independence Grade: 11 Stats: Led Independence to three shutouts and posted a 0.80 goals against average Coach’s Quote: “Converting from midfield to defense, Luke has become a leader and a very important part of our defense,” said Independence coach Ryan MacRaild. “Though not his natural position, he has taken pride in his work helping a group of all new defenders become a cohesive unit after graduating most all of last year’s defensive backs. Luke really has been unselfish this season taking on the challenging role of center back and doing so with great pride and heart. He is becoming a leader from the back, something every great team needs.”

Name: Lexi Boyk School: Berkshire Grade: 9 Stats: Scored seven goals in two games with three assists in 1 ½ games Coach’s Quote: “Lexi has had an amazing start to her high school career, along with the Lady Badgers’ record-breaking start,” said Berkshire coach Rick Nerone. “Lexi has come a long way since the first day of preseason. She has developed extremely well as a goal scorer, and more so in her vision on the field to find her teammates for assists. She has kept a level head and keeps working hard every day to improve herself.”

Hare began covering high school sports for the Lake County News Herald in 1997.
Hare attended Willoughby South High School through the middle of his senior year, then graduated from Berkshire High School in Burton in 1986. He played football, wrestled and was an all-Geauga county baseball player (1986). He lives in Chardon with his wife Paulette and their children.
