School: Cardinal
Grade: Junior
Stats: Shot 92 at the Division II sectional tournament at Punderson Golf Course to earn a berth in the district tournament
Coach’s Quote: “Two years ago Virginia set a personal goal to shoot well enough as a junior to qualify her for the district tournament.,” said Cardinal coach Glenn Travers. “Last Tuesday, she made that goal a reality. Virginia carries a 3.8 gpa, and she participates in Project Achieve, where she spends time with her peers who have developmental disabilities acting as a mentor while developing friendships. Virginia was also selected as an upperclassman to mentor freshman as they start their high school career.”

BOYS SOCCER

Name: Jacob Revak
School: Cardinal
Grade: Junior
Stats: Scored a school record eight goals in a win at Grand Valley. The eight goals places Revak in seventh all-time in OHSAA history for goals scored in a single game.
Coach’s Quote: “Jake was as aggressive as he has ever been,” said Cardinal coach Mike Topalian. “He was very patient and waited for his shots. He found open spaces to work in and his touches were outstanding in the game at Grand Valley. I’m very proud of him. He has improved so much from last season. Jake leads by example on the field, letting his actions and results set a positive benchmark for his teammates to follow.”

Name: Alex Soltesz
School: South
Grade: Senior
Stats: Allowed just one goal in three wins and has a goals allowed average of 1.61
Coach’s Quote: “He is a big reason why our record is 7-1-1 during the past nine games,” said South coach Rick DiBacco. “Alex's experience is paying off for himself and our team this year. He has numerous excellent saves and has become a vocal leader on the field this season.”

GIRLS SOCCER

She has eight shutouts this season, and 11 for her career (both new school records). Cat has put in the work during the offseason to make herself a better goalie, and that is paying dividends for her and the whole team.”
