CHESTERLAND–A first-minute goal set the tone for West Geauga as the Wolverines went on to defeat visiting Chagrin Falls on Thursday, 1-0, in the CVC TV Game of the Week.

Nicolar Ehrbar fielded a West Geauga corner kick and sent a one-touch pass over to Bailey Zanella, who delivered a left-footed strike over the head of the Chagrin Falls’ keeper for a 1-0 lead with just 39:02 remaining in the first half.

Zanella and Ehrbar hooked up again on West Geauga’s second goal nine minutes into the second half.

Ehrbar delivered a corner kick in striking distance in front of the net and Zanella cut through the Chagrin defense to finish it off into the left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Just over a minute later, Ehrbar set up West Geauga’s third goal of the net when she rolled a ball into the direction of Frankee Flesher, who did the rest.

Elana McGinnis scored midway through the second half to cut Chagrin Falls’ deficit to 3-1 but the Wolverines weren’t going to budge the rest of the way.

The win was the second straight for the Wolverines over Chagrin Falls after winning last season’s regular-season matchup 2-1. West Geauga is now 6-7-4 against Chagrin Falls since 2007.
