Beachwood leads Chagrin Division after Day 1

CHESTERLAND—Beachwood’s boys’ and girls’ track teams are in first place after the first day of competition at the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division meet on Monday.

The Bison scored 27 ½ points to edge out West Geauga, who scored 24 ½, in the girls’ division and they lead the boys’ contest with 36 points. Hawken and Harvey are tied for second with 21.

Chagrin Falls’ girls’ 4×800-meter relay won the conference title with a time of 10:03.41. Leah Kler, Avery Russell, Lilly Stukus, and Mila Gresh competed in that event for the Tigers.

Hawken’s 4×8 team of Parker Carrus, Chase Levey, Sam Cohen, and Nick Garcia-Whitko claimed the conference title with a time of 8:15.29.

West Geauga’s Kara Deister won the high jump by clearing 5-2, Hawken’s Gabrielle Turner won the shot put with a best toss of 36-10, Beachwood’s Josh Rosenberg claimed the title in the boys’ discus with a top throw of 128-8, and Hawken’s Jordan Johnson claimed the conference title in the boys’ long jump with a best leap of 20-4.

The Chagrin Division meet continues on Tuesday with the pole vault at Hawken.
