Carson Bianco shot a career-low 35 to lead Independence to a 174-216 win over rival Cuyahoga Heights at Shawnee Hills Golf Course on Wednesday.
Hugh Corrigan carded a 44 for the Blue Devils while Tyler Sagi (46) and Mike Jedrzejek (49) rounded out the scoring for Independence.
“Congratulations to Carson, who shot his lowest round at Shawnee Hills for even par,” said Independence coach Mark Echstenkamper. “Corrigan and Sagi also had solid rounds followed by Jedrzejek to give us a very respectable score of 174.”
Bianco shot par of five of the nine holes. He balanced his two bogeys with two birdies.
“I’m proud of the way I showed up to play against our rivals,” Bianco said. “Even though I had two bogeys, the most important part about golf is still mental strength and being able to forget about that last bad hole. My whole game was pretty good yesterday and I’m very happy with the way my team played.”
Justin Lambert led the Redskins with a 49. Alex Krinov carded a 50, Mike Hopkins shot 51 and Brady Pinter rounded out the scoring with a 66.
