The doubles tennis teams from Chagrin Falls, Hawken and West Geauga advanced to the semifinals of the Division II sectional tournament at Hawken and also punched their ticket to next week’s district.
Several Chagrin Valley Conference singles players also positioned themselves to qualify for the district tournament at Springside Racquet & Fitness Club in Akron next week.
Hawken’s top-seeded team of Natalie Cohen and Dylan Goldberg will play the fourth-seeded team of Emma Orazen and Francie O’Neil from Chagrin Falls in Thursday’s semifinals while second-seeded Rachel Ange and Mackenzie Hanford of West Geauga will play No. 3 Molly Lee and Sarah Harlan of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.
The winners of those two semifinal matches will play for the Hawken sectional title.
In singles quarterfinals action, Orange’s Blessing Nwaozuzu, the No. 1 seed, will play St. John’s Julianne Sheldon while Beachwood’s Lali Ramadan will face No. 4 Adelaide Doman of Chagrin Falls. No. 2 seed Rylie Hanford of West Geauga will play the winner of the preliminary match between Edgewood’s Jordan Zee and Conneaut’s Meghan Gillespie and No. 3 seed Stephanie Shulman of Hawken will face St. John’s Emily Cevera with a district qualification on the line.
