Chagrin Falls sweeps West Geauga

Madeline Swentor recorded a career-high 30 digs to lead Chagrin Falls to a 3-0 sweep of visiting West Geauga on Thursday.

The Tigers won the match, 25-14, 25-18, 25-22.

“We came into this game knowing that West Geauga has one of the strongest squads they’ve had in years,” said Chagrin Falls coach Heather Piccone. “We knew we would need to truly focus and everyone would need to play their part in order to win.”

A recent shift to a 6-2 formation has allowed junior captain Emma Gruss to shine.

“Her energy, efforts and skill on the court bring the team up when we need it,” Piccone said. “We recently moved to a 6-2 to allow her to hit and now she has become a force when hitting opposite as well. The other players are inspired and lead through her work ethic, selfless attitude and natural talent.”
