CVC golfers represent well at Blue Devil Classic

Saturday’s Blue Devil Classic at Shawnee Hills Golf Course included defending Division II state champion Lima Central Catholic as well as four other teams who competed at the girls’ state championship last fall.

Among that competition were several of the Chagrin Valley Conference’s top teams and individual golfers.

Tournament host Independence placed eighth as a team while Lutheran West finished 11th and Chagrin Falls finished 14th in the 18-team field.

Lima Central Catholic cruised to team title with 296 points. Green was second with 306 and Medina Highland rounded out the top three with 313 strokes.

Mary Kelly Mulcahy, who placed sixth in the state last year, claimed the individual title for Lima CC as well, as she finished with a tournament-best 68.

Nine golfers with a score of 74 or better.

Hawken’s Ella Wong, who placed 17th at state last season, and Lutheran West’s Sam Webb, who played in the 2018 state tournament, both carded a 74 to finish tied for seventh place.

Independence’s Morgan Pascarella also placed among the top 20 with an 81, good for 18th place overall.

Chagrin Falls’ Cristina Joseph (85) and Independence’s Allie Ksiazka (87) both broke 90 in the event.
