CVC softball players to participate in all-star event

The Chagrin Valley Conference will be well-represented in the 2023 Ohio Varsity All-Star Classic on Thursday at Mentor High School.

A total of 32 players and three coaching staffs from the CVC will participate in the event.

The Underclassmen Showcase is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

Among the Army All-Stars are Independence sophomore Macey McGhee and junior Keely Sears, Edgewood junior McKenna Vencill, Wickliffe junior Carla Sakacs, and Cardinal freshman Maggie Grant. Future CVC member Madison has freshman Ally Negin and sophomore Kara Mekulsia and Conneaut has sophomore Lexi Brown on the Army roster.

Lutheran West coach Amy Sullivan will coach the Army All-Stars.

The Navy All-Stars roster includes Lutheran West junior Amy Sullivan, Wickliffe sophomore Maddie Kita, Perry sophomore Elise Strahan and junior Calli Thompson, Cardinal sophomore Rylie Leichtman, and Kirtland junior Gianna DiFranco.

Harvey’s Betsy Hada will coach the Navy All-Stars.

The senior all-star game between the Air Force and Marines All-Stars is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

Leading the Air Force All-Stars is Cardinal coach Haley Adams.

On the Air Force roster are Wickliffe’s Laylah Ruscin, Madison’s Emili Blackie and Lexi Nicholson, Perry’s Emma Pietrzak and Lillyan Agostine, West Geauga’s Shea Malone and Haley Ottman, Cuyahoga Heights’ Bella Williams, Kirtland’s Madison Matijevic, and Beachwood’s Nia Brown and Emily Clar.

The Marines All-Stars feature Harvey’s Alexa Bailey and Lola Thomas, Lutheran West’s Gisselle Cedeno, Berkshire’s Anni Bergmeier and Cam Leggett, Independence’s Natalie George, and Geneva’s Carmen Alvarez.
