Geneva slips past Chagrin Falls


CHAGRIN FALLS–Kassie Emmett scored nine of her team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter as Geneva rallied to beat host Chagrin Falls on Tuesday, 37-36.

The host Tigers entered the fourth quarter leading 25-24 but Emmett converted on 5-of-5 free throw attempts and drained two baskets, including the game-winner with just three seconds remaining.

Chagrin Falls launched a last-second shot but it was off the mark.

The Tigers had built a 20-14 halftime lead before the Eagles began their comeback. Geneva outscored Chagrin Falls in the third quarter, 10-5, to pull to within one point heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Geneva’s Olivia Wilms contributed to the win with nine points and Brooke Richmond added seven. Both players scored two points in the decisive fourth quarter.

Julia Santamaria scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Tigers while Marley Goodwin and Lily Karyo each finished with seven points.
