Harvey closes in on third straight conference title

Harvey closed in on a third straight conference title with a 10-0 win over visiting Chagrin Falls on Wednesday.

With the win, the Red Raiders improved to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division with two games left to play against Beachwood.

“It was a quality conference win,” said Harvey coach Betsy Hada. “Our offense is working diligently to improve our pitch selection and situational hitting intelligence. The hard work paid off in a big way today.”

Lola Thomas and Alexa Bailey both were perfect at the plate for the Red Raiders.

Thomas was 4-for-4 with a double and a home run, two runs scored, and two runs batted in. Bailey was 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI.

Veronica Pacheco and Alyssia Franklin each recorded three hits and Abby Patlan notched two of Harvey’s 18 hits.

“Veronica Pacheco was moved into the two-hole spot today,” Hada said. “She was aggressive at the plate, going 3-for-4 and advancing the runners during each at-bat. Her sister, Patricia Pacheco, came in during the fifth inning to replace an injured Jealeiny Serrano. Patricia had the walk-off base hit to score the final run.”

Bailey went the distance in the circle. She allowed four hits and struck out 12 in six scoreless innings.

Lexi Kaseler and Peyton Pierce each had two hits for Chagrin Falls.
