Independence’s Ashley Caputo commits to Tri-C

Independence senior outfielder Ashley Caputo has a lot to look forward to.

Her team is projected to win the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division and the Blue Devils are poised to make a deep run into the playoffs. She also recently committed to continue her education and playing career at Cuyahoga Community College.

“This is a crazy and wonderful opportunity I was given and I am so grateful to continue my education while doing what I love,” Caputo said. “I picked Tri-C because I know people who played for their team and loved it. I have visited and they have a really nice facility for their players and their campus seems easy to navigate.”

Caputo, who was named first team all-district last season and is batting .308 with a double and three RBI in five games this spring, will play in the outfield at Tri-C.

“Ashley Caputo is without a doubt one of the most genuine and fun-loving kids I have ever met,” said Independence coach Garry Moore. “She is loved by her coaches and teammates. Ashley began her travel playing career much later than most of our current players but she caught up very quickly. Ashley has achieved much success because of her fearlessness. We all take great pleasure in knowing that her hard work has paid off.”

While Caputo is excited about her future she is even more eager to see what the Blue Devils can accomplish in her final season of high school softball.

“It’s crazy to think that this is my last year at IHS and I can’t wait to start a new chapter of my life,” she said.
