Orange earns sweep at Perry

Orange traveled to Perry on Thursday and put together one of its best matches of the year in beating the Pirates, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.

“Tonight the Lady Lions played with a tremendous amount of energy,” said Orange coach Jen Gold. “Every kill, ace serve, or any point scored brought so much excitement to the court for them. Communication and energy were the key components to our win tonight.”

Senior setter Haley Shedden led the Lions with 20 assists while senior Maria Burdjalov posted a team-high eight kills. Senior Katie Hoover and sophomore Kylee Owens contributed with seven and five kills, respectively, and senior libero Morgan Chernikoff finished with 13 digs.

“We are extremely proud of our girls tonight,” Gold said. “They came out and played to their full potential. Our offense was so strong at the net and our defense played the best they have all season.”
