Perry places fourth at North Coast Classic

INDEPENDENCE—Perry won two individual championships and placed six other wrestlers in finishing fourth at the 2021 North Coast Classic over the weekend.

The Pirates finished with 369 points. Nordonia won the tournament with 433. Solon was second and North Royalton finished third with 409 and 378 points, respectively.

Dominic Ciolli won the 113-pound title and Brock Christian claimed the 132-pound championship. Riley Rowan (106), Zach Bellisimo (120), Domenick LaMacchia (150), and Ethan Hicks (165) all finished as the runner-up in their respective weight classes. Lucas Spring placed fourth at 113 and Ryan Brubaker was sixth at 157.

Ciolli finished pool wrestling with a 4-0 record and four pins. He then beat Westlake’s Chase Morgan in the championship semifinals, 16-3, and closed out the tournament with a 6-5 win over Aurora’s Luke Green in the championship bout.

Christian was 6-1 with four pins in pool wrestling. He secured an 8-1 decision in the semifinals and won the tournament with a 7-6 victory over Westlake’s Khaled Askar in the championship round.

Berkshire’s Josh Brown also won a tournament championship.

Brown won the 150-pound bracket with a 5-0 mark with four pins in pool wrestling. He then used a major decision to advance to the championship match where he pinned Perry’s LaMacchia in three minutes, 35 seconds.

Other Chagrin Valley Conference wrestlers to earn a spot on the podium included Berkshire’s Lucas Stoddard, who was second at 190, and Colin Hering, who was eighth at 106, and Independence’s Vinnie Kubicki, who placed eighth at 113 pounds.
