Sharp-shooting Corrigan leads Independence past Trinity

Hugh Corrigan won medalist honors with a match-low 42 as Independence defeated visiting Trinity at Shawnee Hills Golf Course on Wednesday, 189-224.

“I was happy to see Hugh put up a strong score tonight,” Independence coach Mark Echstenkamper said. “He’s not been happy with his drives for a few matches and has been working hard at making some adjustments, which paid dividends with medalist score tonight.”

Mike Jedrzejek carded a 45 for the Blue Devils while A.J. Marcinko and Marky Tripodi rounded out the scoring with a 49 and a 53, respectively.

“Jedrzejek has been very consistent for us so far this year,” Echstenkamper said. “As the matches continue to roll by, he keeps scoring for us with mid-40 scores. I think he’ll be low 40s by tournament time.”

Jack Rolando led Trinity with a 49. Luke Wessel (56), Jacob Potts (58) and Brody Tancak-Peshek (61) also scored for the Trojans.
