Shorthanded Lions sweep Harvey

Orange was down a couple of players but the Lions still came out with a 3-0 win over visiting Harvey on Tuesday in a Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division showdown.

The Lions won 25-11, 25-8, 25-22.

“The girls went out and had fun tonight,” said Orange coach Jen Gold. “We had a couple of missing players because of illness. The players we did have worked the floor in some new combinations that we don’t usually use. I am proud of the direction our team is moving in.”

Senior Maria Burdjalov led the Lions with nine kills while senior Katie Hoover finished with seven. Senior Haley Shedden posted a team-high 23 assists and junior Peyton Beachler led the Lions with four aces.

“I am happy that the girls came out to win tonight,” Gold said. “They started to let the fight go in the third set but were able to come out on top. We are looking forward to our next match against Chagrin on Thursday.”
