Tigers open with win over Streetsboro

Cole Weiss and Xavier Perez both scored in double figures to lead Chagrin Falls to a season-opening 66-47 win over visiting Streetsboro on Friday.

“We played very well for our first time out,” Chagrin Falls head coach Dave Bargar said. “We saw a lot of good things that we’ve been working on in the preseason. Obviously, we still have a lot of things to correct, but overall it was a very good night.”

Weiss led the Tigers with 13 points and also pulled down four rebounds while Perez finished with 12 points. Josh Norton added eight points and six rebounds in the win.

“Cole Weiss did a fantastic job getting us off to a good start scoring nine of his 13 points in the first quarter,” Bargar said. “Xavier Perez gave us a spark off the bench scoring 12 points and hitting a couple of 3s. Josh Norton played a solid game. Jack Amendola played a really solid game attacking in transition and doing a good job of running our offense.”

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Twinsburg.
