RICHMOND HEIGHTS—Isaac Pettway ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns and Chase Fortkamp scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Wickliffe to a 45-8 win at Richmond Heights on Friday.
With the win, the Blue Devils improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1997.
“These guys answered the challenge this week and executed on both sides of the ball,” said Wickliffe coach Marce Porcello. “I thought defensively we executed. We came out and we hit. They have some weapons on offense and our defense executed. Offensively, we played really well as well. Chase and Isaac had big nights tonight.”
Brad Dieterich, who completed 4-of-6 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns, opened the scoring with a 63-yard touchdown pass to Fortkamp on the second offensive play of the game. Fortkamp then ran for a 28-yard score and Pettway made it 21-0 with a 10-yard touchdown run with 2:23 left in the first quarter.
Dieterich and Pettway connected on a 20-yard touchdown for the only points of the second quarter as Wickliffe took a 28-0 lead into the break.
Richmond Heights opened the scoring in the third quarter with a 61-yard touchdown run by Jonathan McWilliams and Jalen Johnson’s two-point conversion run cut Wickliffe’s lead to 28-8.
Pettway responded with a five-yard touchdown run and Isaiah Bolon ran for an eight-yard score to give the Blue Devils a 42-8 lead with 2:46 left in the third.
Dieterich closed out the scoring with a 23-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter.
McWilliams finished the game with 92 rushing yards on 14 carries and Johnson carried 15 times for 67 yards for the Spartans.
