2023 CVC Girls Golf Postseason Tournament Results

NEWBURY—Independence and Perry won their respective division titles at the 2023 Chagrin Valley Conference girls’ golf postseason tournament at Punderson Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils won the Chagrin Division with 366 strokes, topping second-place Chagrin Falls by 20 strokes. Orange placed third with 415, Cuyahoga Heights was fourth with 448, and Hawken finished fifth with 457 strokes.

Independence senior Molly McGreal claimed medalist honors in the Chagrin Division with a score of 80. Teammate Molly McGreal placed second (86), Orange’s Tessa Kemelhar finished third (89), Chagrin Falls’ Samantha Holtz was fourth (93), and Hawken’s Keira Chang and Chagrin Falls’ Reagan Burnight rounded out the top five (95).

Perry claimed the Valley Division title with 379 strokes. Edgewood was second with 402, Madison placed third with 424, Berkshire finished fourth with 435, and Geneva shot 471 to place fifth.

Perry’s Emily Capitosti shot an 84 to claim medalist honors in the Valley Division. Edgewood’s Avery Vencill carded an 87 to finish second, Madison’s Jocelyn Bancroft placed third with an 88, Perry’s Addie Trefzger finished fourth with a 91, and Edgewood’s Annie Johnston posted a score of 92 to round out the top five.

Hare began covering high school sports for the Lake County News Herald in 1997. Hare attended Willoughby South High School through the middle of his senior year, then graduated from Berkshire High School in Burton in 1986.
