Berkshire rolls in postseason opener

BURTON—Allie Barcikoski and Clara Agawa both scored three goals to lead Berkshire to an 11-0 win over visiting Brookfield in a Division III sectional semifinal on Monday.

Summer Larch also scored a pair of goals and Megan Filby, Riley Hornak and Emma Musick each added one for the Badgers, who improved to 11-2-4 overall.

Julia Frank contributed with four assists while Filby and Julia Landrus both assisted on one goal.

Berkshire, the No. 4 seed in the Division III Warren District, will host No. 5 Conneaut on Thursday in a sectional championship game.

Hare attended Willoughby South High School through the middle of his senior year, then graduated from Berkshire High School in Burton in 1986. He played football, wrestled and was an all-Geauga county baseball player (1986). He lives in Chardon with his wife Paulette and their children.

The Chagrin Valley Conference, in coordination with Beachwood and Brooklyn school districts, released a statement following an incident that occurred during a football game between the two schools on Sept. 22.

Athletes from 16 different schools have been named the Chagrin Valley Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 24.
