Bison cruise to win over VASJ

Beachwood’s girls’ soccer team handed head coach Jonathan Kostoff his first career victory on Saturday as the Bison topped visiting Villa Angela-St. Joseph, 6-0.

Freshman Romi Roth opened her high school career with four goals to lead the Bison. Captains Carly Petti and Haleigh McPhillips each scored once. McPhillips celebrated her birthday by converting a penalty kick.

“Terrific team performance for our home opener,” Kostoff said. “It is our first win to start a season since 2010, a team goal for us since the summer started. (I’m) extremely proud of our team effort and energy. Great start to the season in front of a terrific crowd.”

Beachwood 23 shots on goal in the win.
