MIDDLEFIELD—Cardinal’s trip to Wickliffe on Sept. 3 didn’t turn out so well for the Huskies, who fell to the Blue Devils, 3-2. Thursday’s rematch was a must-win situation for the Huskies, who still have an outside shot of winning a share of the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division title.
The Huskies defended their home court with a 3-1 win over the Blue Devils. Cardinal won the match 25-22, 25-9, 26-28, 25-14 to improve to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in league play. Wickliffe dropped to 10-7, 3-5.
Haley Domen stepped up to lead the Cardinal attack as she finished with nine kills and added 22 assists, 17 digs and four service aces. Andrea Mack pitched in with seven kills, six blocks and nine digs and Jessie Proch contributed with six kills and eight digs.
Taylor Soltis posted a team-high 23 digs and Lorelei Hutchinson finished with six kills, three blocks and four digs. Karalyn Rutkowski led the Huskies with eight blocks.
