Cardinal sweeps rival Berkshire

MIDDLEFIELD–Cardinal extended its winning streak to four straight matches with a 3-0 sweep of rival Berkshire on Thursday.

The Huskies improved to 4-0 with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 win over the Badgers.

Haley Domen led Cardinal with 22 assists, including the 2,000th of her career, and she also recorded seven digs. Lindsay Hissa finished the match with nine kills and five digs and Gabby Nemeth added 15 digs and three service aces. Lauren Soltis contributed to the win with three kills and four digs while Grace Whitney posted a team-high five aces and also recorded 13 digs.

Maddie Smetana led the Badgers with 12 kills and she also recorded a pair of blocks. Sierra Berman finished the night with six points, eight kills, and seven digs. Sammi Winter contributed with 15 assists, six points, two service aces, and four digs, and Angie Romano added five kills, four digs, and six points.

Berkshire dropped to 2-1 on the year.

The Huskies host Chagrin Falls on Saturday while Berkshire hosts Grand Valley on Tuesday.
