A high school soccer match consists of 80 minutes and Chagrin Falls used every one of them to down Aurora in a Division II district championship game on Thursday at Streetsboro High School.
Peyton Gellin headed in a Bella Dalessandro corner kick with just 49 seconds remaining in regulation to send the Tigers to the regional tournament with a 1-0 victory.
“The longer you stay in a game, 0-0, then you know it’s going to be one switch, one flip, and the game is going to turn,” Chagrin Falls coach Pamela Malone told the News-Herald. “Luckily, it went for us.”
The goal was the 18th of the season for Gellin, but none of the previous 17 meant more than this one.
Chagrin Falls advanced to the regional semifinals where they will play Canfield at Streetsboro High School on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
