Six weeks of the high school football season are in the books for Chagrin Valley Conference teams.
Here’s a look at how CVC teams fared in the first game of the second half of the regular season:
West Geauga 22, Hawken 15
Hawken scored the first points of the game, but West Geauga responded with back-to-back touchdowns and responded to Hawken’s next score to close out the game.
Nasir Levy ran for 115 yards on 24 carries and Finn Keenan added 86 yards on 16 carries with touchdown runs of 20 and nine yards. Keenan also completed 12-of-22 passes for 88 yards and a 15-yard TD pass to Andrew Marino.
Hawken’s Donovan Moorehead completed 5-of-11 passes for 79 yards and two touchdown passes to Charlie Mallett covering 37 and nine yards.
Geneva 49, Edgewood 14
Geneva bounced back from its first loss of the season by handing Edgewood its second setback.
Luke Smith led the Eagles with 158 rushing yards on 13 carries and he added a 65-yard touchdown run and threw a 47-yard TD pass to Giavonni Rice. Hayden Diemer ran for two touchdowns and also returned an interception for another score. Luke Barbo returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown and Rice also returned an interception for a score.
Edgewood’s Tony Hall ran for a one-yard touchdown, and he also caught a 26-yard TD pass from Hunter Braat.
Wickliffe 28, Trinity 7
As a team, Wickliffe ran for 349 yards with Ralph Jackson and Jimmie Feaster both rushing for over 100 yards. Jackson ran for 126 yards on 15 carries and scored on a nine-yard run while Feaster carried 19 times for 123 yards with touchdown runs of three and eight yards. E.J. Mester ran for a one-yard touchdown in the win.
Trinity’s Aidan Duncan completed 11-of-18 passes for 98 yards and ran for 59 yards on 15 carries with a 15-yard touchdown to his credit.
Kirtland 55, Grand Valley 0
Kirtland accumulated 311 yards of offense and held Grand Valley to just 55 in a dominating win.
Seven different Hornets found the end zone in the win with Jake LaVerde running for one score and connecting with Will Sayle and Gino Blasini on touchdown throws. Rocco Alfieri, Will Beers, and Macguire Boyd ran for touchdowns, and Max Paul threw a touchdown pass to Evan Koprowski, and Beers returned an interception 37 yards for a score.
Harvey 49, Crestwood 16
Harvey scored the first 43 points of the game in a key conference win over Crestwood.
Shahn Alston carried 15 times for 115 yards and three touchdown runs to lead the Red Raiders. Alson also returned a kickoff 90 yards for another score. Cavon Wise completed 4-of-5 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Crestwood’s Nate Blasiole and Zephania Beverly both scored touchdowns for the Red Devils.
