Edgewood, Independence win tournament titles

NEWBURY—Independence and Edgewood drove and putted their way to Chagrin Valley Conference girls’ golf postseason tournament titles on Monday at Punderson Golf Course.

Independence won the Chagrin Division with a tournament-low 363 while Edgewood shot a 409 to win the Valley Division.

Hawken’s Ella Wong claimed medalist honors with a tournament-low 76. She shot a 39 on the front nine and a 37 on the back.

Lutheran West’s Sam Webb and Independence’s Morgan Pascarella both shot an 85 to finish second and third in the Chagrin Division while Independence’s Allie Ksiazka (88) and Hawen’s Kate Petersen (89) rounded out the top five.

Edgewood’s Kaci Kanicki shot a Valley Division low of 90 and teammate Jenna Wolfe shot a 97 to finish second in the division. Perry’s Emily Capitosi (101) and Geneva’s Nia Gibbons and Corinne Dushney both shot 102 to round out the top five.

He also created and publishes OhioVarsity.com, an online publication dedicated to providing hyperlocal coverage to area high school athletic programs. Hare began covering high school sports for the Lake County News Herald in 1997. Hare attended Willoughby South High School through the middle of his senior year, then graduated from Berkshire High School in Burton in 1986.
