GATES MILLS–Ally Taylor, Josie Culver, and Evelyn Lally scored goals in leading Hawken to a 3-0 win over visiting Orange on Thursday.
With the victory, the Hawks improved to 7-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division.
“We kind of had a game plan going in just to play our style of soccer which really is 2-3 touch, knocking the ball around, finding really good opportunities,” said Hawken coach Heidi Wilbrandt.
Taylor struck early to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead.
“Today was a game where we really focused on working together,” Taylor said. “Today is our senior night and we wanted to play for our seniors and I think that’s just what we did. I’m really proud of our seniors and was happy to see everyone give it their all tonight.”
Both sides stepped up on the defensive end and the score remained 1-0 until Culver and Lally each found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Hawken’s run for a conference title intensifies next week as the Hawks travel to Chagrin Falls on Tuesday and then host West Geauga on Thursday. West Geauga is 2-0-1 in league play while the Hawks and Tigers both are 1-0-1.
Orange hosts Chagrin Falls on Thursday.
