Kirtland wins key CVC match

All four Kirtland golfers shot 44 or better in a 169-180 win over Beachwood on Thursday.

Jack Dever led the Hornets with a 40 while Adam Mueller carded a 42, Matt Speece came in with a 43 and Reese Van Arnhem rounded out the scoring with a 44.

“Today was a solid effort from everybody as a team,” Dever said. “Seeing Matt and Reese shoot 43 and 44 is fantastic and I know that they will only get better as the year goes on.”

With the win, the Hornets improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division.

“Winning the CVC is the goal every year and we know that Beachwood was coming in trying to knock us off, but we got the job done today and we are one step closer to defending our title,” Dever said. “Coach (Sam) Kless has attributed to most of our success this year, especially in the young guys. He has given his all to this team and it doesn’t go unnoticed. He expects big things from us and we know we can deliver.”

Beachwood’s Drew Schnee won medalist honors with a 35.
