Lutheran West senior Kristin Groppe committed to continue her education and running career at Bowling Green State University.
Groppe chose BGSU over interest from Loyola University-Chicago, Duquesne University, Central Michigan and the University of Toledo.
“I’m super excited about being a Falcon next year,” Groppe said. “I went on many visits to many different schools. It was super fun but at the same time pretty stressful. BGSU was always one of my favorites, and my official visit there made it clear to me that it was the one. It’s the perfect fit for me, and I couldn’t be happier. The team, coaching staff, and academics are all I could ask for and more. I’m super excited for the rest of my high school athletic career and I’m looking forward to the future.”
Groppe, who also plays basketball for the Longhorns, currently holds schools records in the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter runs and also is a member of several relays that set school records including the 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800-meter relays.
“Bowling Green will be a great fit for Kristin,” Lutheran West coach Anjanette Whitman said. “She will go into the program being competitive with her new teammates and has lots of potential to grow as a runner in the collegiate setting. I am excited to see how she improves at an even higher level.”
