Mueller paces Kirtland to win over West Geauga

Behind strong performances from Adam Mueller and Jack Dever, Kirtland defeated West Geauga on Thursday, 170-191.

With the win, the Hornets improved to 7-0 on the year.

“The undefeated streak is nice, but at this point, we just want to keep getting better for sectionals,” Mueller said. “After losing our No. 1 (golfer) from last year, Jack and I needed to step it up and post some low scores for the team this year.”

Mueller claimed medalist honors with a 39 while Dever carded a 41 for the Hornets.

“It’s definitely more difficult to not have a consistent low score in every match like we have the last three years,” Mueller said. “I think Jack and I both help each other out a lot in practice and push each other to play well because we need to be on point to get back to the low scores we’ve shot in the past as a team.”

Nick Ribic and Reese Van Arnhem both shot 45 to close out the scoring for the Hornets.

Kirtland 170, West Geauga 191

Kirtland: Mueller 39, Dever 41, Ribic 45, Vanarnhem 45; West Geauga: Beccia 47, Luther 47, Abakomuv 47, Lavin 50; Record: Kirtland 7-0
