Harvey pounded out 21 hits, four doubles, two triples and a home run in collecting a 21-2 nonconference win over visiting St. John on Thursday.
The victory was the first for the Red Raiders since they beat Orange on May 15, 2017.
“All phases of the game came together for us today,” Harvey coach Betsy Hada said. “We stepped up and made big plays on defense.”
That defense helped pitchers Rachael Boykin and Keristin Cruz shut down St. John.
Boykin picked up the win after allowing just two hits with six strikeouts in four scoreless innings and Cruz allowed two runs on two hits with one strikeout in her one inning of work.
“Rachael did a great job getting ahead in the count and working all sides of the plate,” Hada said.
Freshman third baseman Mira DiPierro led the Red Raiders at the plate as she finished 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, four runs scored and she also knocked in a team-high four runs.
Alexa Riddle finished with three hits, including a double, with four runs scored and two RBI and Boykin and Leah Miller both contributed with two hits. Boykins had a triple and Miller recorded two doubles.
Tressa Overbey and Cruz both added hits. Overbey also knocked in two runs and stole two bases and Cruz pounded out a triple and scored three runs in the win.
