Orange dominant in sectional semifinal win over East Tech

An 18-point service run highlighted Orange’s 3-0 win over East Teach in a Division II sectional semifinal on Wednesday.

The Lions won the match 25-2, 25-8, 25-5 and advanced to Saturday’s sectional championship game against third-seeded Chagrin Falls at Gilmour Academy.

“The girls were very excited to get their first tournament win over East Tech,” said Orange coach Jen Gold. “They had fun on the court and played as a team.”

Katie Hoover served 18 straight points in the first set to set the tone for the sixth-seeded Lions.

Haley Shedden, Maria Burdjalov, Sofia Garcia Olalla and Kennedy Vickers all had blocks at the net.

The Lions split their regular season series with Chagrin Falls.

“We are excited for another chance to get Chagrin on Saturday,” Gold said.
