Pitching depth a plus for Chagrin Falls

What Chagrin Falls lacks in experience the Tigers more than make up for in depth, especially in the circle.

The Tigers open the season with at least six different players who can step in and pitch at any given time.

“Pitchers are working hard and making progress to get ready for the season,” Chagrin Falls coach Greg Munn said.

Senior Lindy Cunnington is the projected starter with juniors Paige Hammond, Emma Helkey and Ashley Jones, sophomore Sara Hartle and freshmen Paige Nightwine and Courtney Myers providing depth.

Munn is confident his defense will provide the support the pitchers need to keep the Tigers competitive in the rugged Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division.

“The defense should be solid,” he said.

Junior Lexi Christie, who batted .438 last season, is projected at first base, with junior Cece Cox, a .389 hitter, behind the dish. Junior Aly Miller, who hit .313, will play shortstop, and junior Hanne Wilson is projected at second base. She batted .333 last season. Hartle will play third when she isn’t in the circle. She batted .356 last spring.

Myers, along with senior Kelsey Miller, junior Sophee Newbauer and sophomores Caitlin Larkin and Alexa Nielsen will patrol the outfield for the Tigers. Freshman Camille Paoletta will provide depth in the infield.
