Pollack scores five in Cardinal win

Cardinal played with just 11 players but the Huskies needed only Bella Pollack to beat visiting Shaw on Tuesday, 10-0.

Pollack scored five goals in the win.

“Pollack displayed excellent leadership for her team against Shaw,” Cardinal coach Vanessa Pintabona said. “Besides the obvious skill required to score five goals herself, she continuously worked to provide opportunities for her teammates to succeed and score as well.

Madi Rosenberger added a hat trick and Chloe Dubasik and Rachel Zurick each scored their first career goals in the win.

Freshman keeper Anna Layman posted her first varsity shutout.

“The girls played a great game today,” Pintabona said. “They worked together, had good passes and communication and didn’t rely on one or two players to do the bulk of the work. It was a physically aggressive game but Cardinal stayed calm and didn’t stoop to retaliation. We have two injured players so had no subs but the team’s energy never flagged on the field.”
