Richmond, Opalko lead Geneva to third-place at Madison

MADISON—Ayden Richmond and Kole Opalko both tied for fourth place overall in leading Geneva to a third-place finish at the Bronko Invitational at Madison Country Club on Thursday.

Richmond and Opalko carded identical 78s to finish among the top five individual golfers at the annual event.

The Eagles finished with 332 points behind tournament champion Jefferson, who combined to score 322, and second-place South Range with 329.

Devin Morrison and Caleb Nugent each shot 88 to tie for 14th place and Hunter Metz also finished among the top 20 with a 92, good for 19th place.

Kirtland finished in fifth place with 363 points while Perry and Wickliffe were seventh and eighth, respectively, with 386 and 417.

Kirtland’s Victor Alfieri tied for eighth place with an 84 and teammate Arron Shultz was 13th with an 87.

Perry’s Brad Peters was the only other Chagrin Valley Conference golfer to finish among the top 20. He placed tied for 19th with a 92.

Lakeside also competed in the event but did not score as a team.

Hare began covering high school sports for the Lake County News Herald in 1997. Hare attended Willoughby South High School through the middle of his senior year, then graduated from Berkshire High School in Burton in 1986.
